Residual Solvents

These are flammable, organic chemicals that may be used in the extraction process of cannabis flower to obtain concentrates which are used to produce oils and other products.

Residual solvents such as ethanol and ethyl acetate, amongst others, are classified as Class 3 chemicals i.e., flammable and combustible, and can be toxic at higher concentrations. We utilise Ph. Eur. 2.2.28 based validated methods for sample preparation, analysis and quantification of seven of these Class 3 Residual Solvents compounds using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry to ensure that products meet the regulatory limits set for maximum amounts of these compounds from a toxicological perspective.
